“The kidney is mainly responsible for the elimination of toxic waste products from protein breakdown such as ammonia and urea. Detoxification of the body involves cleansing the kidney with adequate amounts of water (at least 8 to 10 glasses a day) and a reduction in protein intake (such as red meat) to avoid overloading the body with urea which is resulted from the breakdown of protein.”

People with chronic kidney disease (CKD), which increases the risk of heart disease, experienced improvements in both blood pressure and heart rate following supplementation with four grams of omega-3 fats. Furthermore, when the omega 3’s were taken in combination with coenzyme Q10, the blood pressure reducing benefits were enhanced. CKD is linked to increased prevalence in all-cause mortality, cardiovascular events and hospitalization.” NutraIngredients September 17, 2009
“Decreased CoQ10 levels make circulating lipoproteins such as LDL more vulnerable to oxidative damage adding CVD to the renal load. Subjects with low CoQ10 received vitamins C and E along with vitamin B2 for two months before being supplemented with two months of CoQ10 therapy and saw their CoQ10 levels quadruple.” Life Extension
“Milk thistle is a safe natural compound that has a long history as a traditional therapy for liver and kidney conditions.”
“Silymarin’s ability to protect against oxidative stress produced by potent drugs suggests it may be useful in protecting against more subtle chronic injury by free radicals, particularly those generated by chronic blood glucose elevations.” Life Extension, Note Silymarin is found in Milk Thistle.
“Research suggests that diets rich in Omega 3 may prevent kidney disease.”
“Flaxseed has two components that may improve kidney function. ALA stops inflammation and clogging of the arteries which play some role in damaging the tiny and very fragile blood vessels supplying blood to the kidneys. Flax is also high in lignans that can help prevent clots from forming in the fragile kidney blood vessels. In addition the lignans appear to have antibacterial and antifungal capabilities.” Prevention
Your Liver and Kidneys work hand in glove
“A diet low in sodium, potassium and phosphorus three substances’ regulated by the kidneys, is essential in managing kidney disease. … However a certain amount of these substances is necessary for good health.” Life Extension Note this need not be a worry if you take care of your kidneys. Keeping them healthy is not that hard.
In detoxifying your body your liver and kidneys work hand in hand. First your liver binds the toxin to a molecule making the combination water soluble and puts it back into your blood. Your Kidneys then filter the toxins out of your blood and eliminate them. Your kidneys must keep up with your hard working liver.
“If you’re overweight, you have a 200 percent greater risk of liver damage. If you’re obese (body mass index over 30), you’re 400 percent more likely to develop liver damage than a normal-weight individual.1 Most of my patients figure as long as they don’t overuse alcohol or drugs, their liver is safe. But alcohol isn’t your biggest worry. Evidence suggests that alcohol contributes to only 6% of liver damage. But obesity alone contributes to 52% of liver disease.” Doctor Al Sears MD
“Nothing else comes close to SAMe in providing a spectrum of health benefits for the liver.” Life Extension
“Protein deprivation has been shown to decrease the liver content of several of the cytochrome P450 enzymes, the enzyme system the body calls upon to remove toxins. Mercury also blocks the P450 system. Transfats also interfere with the P450 detoxification enzyme system.” Doctor Mary Enig
“Grape Seed Extract provided excellent protection against acetaminophen overdose-induced liver and kidney damage.” Bagchi et al
“Research shows that garlic compounds speed up blood clot dissolving activity and improve blood fluidity. This improves circulation and in fact helps “purify” the blood of unwanted elements.” Saarland University

An excellent Kidney flush can be done using lemon juice and Epsom salt. It is good to flush your kidneys at least once a year, more often if required. You may feel nauseas as the toxins are flushed from your kidneys and may need to start with a single tablespoon of Epsom salt; if so see if you can try once again in about a month or so until you can flush with the full three tablespoons.
Caution: If concerned about the health of your kidneys you may wish to check with your doctor before flushing.
